NEWSLETTER December 22, 2025

It has been a lovely and wild Holiday season!

Happenings at The Mills:

Our Book Fair was able to provide books to all through donations. Thank you to our donors for giving the gift of reading to all Scotts Mills students.

Spirit Week was full of dress up days, crafting, music and holiday games.  Students enjoyed the week as much as staff!

Christmas trees were also donated.  Both to decorate for the Winter Music Program as well as for families in need of some decor at home.

The Winter Music Program was a full house!  Thank you Mr. Medak for putting together such a wonderful night.  Also, thank you to the PTCC for hosting cookies and cocoa.  The Kindergarten class also hosted a kindergarten readiness event with gift boxes for young children to take home.  Thank you for Megan Cole and the KPI grant.

Early Release started this month, teachers were able to connect and align curriculum for the benefit of all students’ learning and growth.

A new website was launched, check it out!

Janet Jungwirth, LRC teacher, was awarded the MAPS grant for development of the Regulation Station. This space will help provide a way for students to regulate their energy, enhancing learning and emotional growth.

Upcoming at The Mills:

Early Release continues this month, school releases at 1 pm on Thursday January 15th.

We have a few days off in January, holidays and teacher work days. Mark your calendars.

The Scotts Mills Middle School dance will be held on January 23rd.  Anyone interested in chaperoning, be sure your volunteer application and background check are complete.

Silverton High School will be coming to share with the 8th graders as they finish their Scotts Mills careers and plan for High School.

The current session of electives will be wrapping up end of January.  Students have enjoyed this offering and will be signing up for the next round. Thank you to all donations and volunteers for helping make electives such a success at Scotts Mills!

Character trait - Kindness:

January’s character trait is kindness.  Each week we will highlight a Jaguar of the Week who demonstrates exceptional kindness at school.

Sports:

Our girls Basketball team had a season of growth and excellent sportsmanship.  Great job ladies!

Boys basketball starts this month, see the game schedule below. Shawn H will be coaching and it should be a great season!

Friday morning open gym continues, 6:45 am.  Come and play before school!

From The PTCC:

Next meeting, 1/13 at 3:15 in the library.

PTCC is hosting Bingo night on January 30, come and bid on classroom projects, play a few cards and support the school!  Proceeds from Bingo will go to support instruction at Scotts Mills.  These funds in combination with other donations will help fund a part time instructional aide in the kindergarten.  Additional funds will support instructional activities at Scotts Mills for all grades.  Any additional donations are greatly appreciated.

Also a thank you to everyone who contributed to the cookie potluck following the Christmas program!
